650B fwd. fuselage construction and layout of firewall components and penetrations. I am using the Viking suggestion to mount the dual fuel pumps through the firewall on the lower right. Steel pump body and fire sleeve mounted in firewall. Inlet suction side on inside and high pressure (45 psi) on engine side.

Hi Patrick, Your plane looks great! Jan's post on low wing fuel systems was in the Viking Engine Aircraft Forum. Look for his post titled "Fuel System - Low Winged" dated 6/27/14.

The floor area looked like a poor and less safe location for the fuel pumps to me. Jan's post was a very good idea. I used two 2.0" dia. holes in the firewall lower right side. Each fuel pump installs in a 2" duct flange (AL) from Spruce with fire sleeve and 3M firestop between the fuel pump steel body and the flange. On the engine side, a 2.0" ID firesleeve goes over the pump body and flange.

With the rudder against the right rudder stop, the passenger right rudder pedal is 2 5/16" from the firewall at the top fuel pump location - setting the position and clearance for the inlet side of the pump. I will send more pictures on this today. The other change was to not use the plastic inlet strainers next to the pump and remote then to the wing root by the access plate. I used Holley 100 micron strainers with 3/8 NPT and also used auto racing quick connects with shutoff on both sides to make it very easy to access and clean the inlet strainers. That way the drip of fuel the shutoffs doesn't stop is outside the cabin. Glad you picked the Viking and hope this helps. Larry
