did you have problemes with your Garmin GMA 240 audio panel? I had lost after 100 hours the copilote headphone and micro because some thing wrong with the GMA 240... GMA 240 has been change for an other garmin from garmin (with the aid of french distributor of zenair in france)  great britain 250 euros because  out side warrantly period for 2012 bought and probleme for 2015. This new GMA  240 works again well.

I decide to buy an other one from lambert aircraft in belgium  GARMIN GMA DEFECT DIED at first utilisation. this second GMA 240 was for sure flying in the luggages. The problemes are the sames than described in vans forum.

http://www.vansairforce.com/community/archive/index.php?t-93879.html

That means than GMA 240 GARMIN Died again in 2016 like in the past as describe in the forum of vans aircraft. Garmin would repair it for free only if the belgium distributor send it to great britain ! the distributor don t want.

for a simple microfuse monted on board, no GMA in the luggage.

Did you have trouble with your GMA 240 garmin ?

Impossible to get a new one from Lambert aircraft even on  the warantly.

Interesting. Your panel layout is a lot like the way I had mine setup, with a Garmin 696 more or less in the center and a MGL Voyager EFIS in front of the pilot. I used a center console to place a smaller MGL V10 Com radio, trim, flaps and radio jacks. Plan to place the power controls, a Vertical Power VP-50 and Garmin 330 transponder in front of the passenger side. I would send a layout pic, but it's on my home computer.

Thanks very much, Mike. I'll have to look deeper when I have more time, but that looks like a very good choice.

The SL40 is a radio, not an audio panel. Other than having an intercom, it won't do the things I want the PMA 8000 for. I want the larger screen and different controls of the 696. I had originally planned the 496, but changed when the 696 came out. The Wx subscription is the same for either one. I don't need approach plates. I'm aware that I don't absolutely need what I'm putting in.

Bob, you might check out the Garmin SL40 audio panal. It is for non certified aircraft and could save you around $700. It does everything the PMA800 will do. There is really no need for the audio panal unless you add another radio or you are like me and like your tunes. You could also save a bundle and a lot of panal space if you considered the 496 or 495 over the 696. There are a lot of guys trading them in for the 696. Don't forget, in order to fully utilize the 696 (I guess the 496 as well), you'll have a XM subscription of $60+ per month. I'm not sure about the approach plate subscription, but if your not going IFR, you'll most likely not need em. I'm the world's worst about spending more money on the things that I want and I'm not saying you should not build the panal of your dreams. I just thought I would mention the audio panal and point out that you are paying for a few things you will never use in a VFR airplane....have a good one.

Just playing around with my CH 750 panel design using my very rudimentary graphics skills. The blue knob is carb heat. The black knob on the right is cabin heat. There is no mixture for the jabiru 3300. I'm hoping a small map pocket will fit between the carb heat and cabin heat knobs. I was thinking of extending that little piece of center panel down to the floor. I'm not sure if I'm really going to use that power panel.
