My gear legs were returned from Zenair in the morning UPS delivery...."not quite Christmas..but close to the same feeling":>)
An additional welded bead was added to the support bars and that additional rivets were also added to those same bars. This will greatly improve over-all rigidity in the unlikely event you ever encounter vibrations in this area again.

In addition, you'll see that the bearing material has been changed to N66 plastic (that we commonly use for fair-leads in the rest of the our airframes). This does not have the pre-oiled qualities of the green Nyoil material, but as you pointed out, it has a higher melting point. This, and adequate greasing, should then also improve conditions should you ever again experience shimmying.

Shimmying, however, should no longer be a possibility with the parts we are sending back to you. This is due to the use of Bellville washers within the system. As you will quickly realize when now checking the directional movement of the nose wheel, the use of Belleville washers has taken any looseness out of the system. Real-world testing has shown that with this set-up, the centering springs are no longer required (they have been removed); this should also help take care of the "shopping cart" sensation you previously mentioned. It will be important to maintain the current stiffness in the system as you use it over the years. This bolt / swivel size has also been increased in diameter...A brief update of changes made to the front amphibian gear legs.

As with most thing mechanical... the design is in a continual state of modification and updates. My 1360 lb gross CH750 became a 1450 lb gross CH750. Higher cabin roof, sliding seats... constant change and product improvement. The floats are a similar concept.... the longer you wait to buy the more updated and improved the end product will be.

Seems like a much better set up.  Do you think this update will be done to all the float kits now or was yours a special case?
