New Spar - 3 months later
The bad spar was a huge setback. But, encouraged by my fellow builders, and with some prior solid rivet experience, I went ahead with building a new spar from scratch. I do not regret the decision, and I am very happy with the resulting new spar. No parts from the old spar were re-used.

Bob, thank you so much for your kind words. In my case, there were no re-usable parts from the original spar. It was a mess - a very dangerous, very poorly done mess. I nearly quit when I realized the spar I had was no good, but I took a break, thought through it and went to work. With support from friends and the Matronics list, I had a great time re-doing the spar and I'm very proud of what I ended up with.

excellent job...great attitude by the builder to get it correct. Most rebuilds required more work than building the original.
