July 22, 2011 Brian Parsons UL Power 260is powered CH701 took flight at Kitchener, Ontario. Brian trailered his CH701 from Nova Scotia to Can-Zac to finish the project and have Mark Townsend install the fuel injected engine. It "starts just like a car", runs incredibly smooth while producing enough thrust to skid the fully locked tires across the tarmac. Weather for the test flights and training was 34C with 80% humidity giving a brutal density altitude of 6,500 ft. Flown solo the UL Power engine climbed at 950 fpm @65 mph airspeed. With full fuel, Brian and "Ballast Bob" the UL Powered CH701 still pegged 550 fpm climb with all EGT / CHT / oil temps "in the green" on the Dynon Skyview panel.
