My son's girl friend Niki had her first airplane flight today. Fall leaf colors were awesome.

Ari

In my Can-Zac Spycam photo album there is a picture of a simple velcro strap, Angus Watt desighned to "lock" the door latch so the door won't open in flight. You can catch it with you pant leg cuff, or boot and open the door. The strap stops it.

..reminds me about an incident this summer. I was asked to take a guy to a short flight as part of his bachelor party. They had originally agreed on paragliding but the paraglider pilot cancelled it due to crosswind so they came to me as I just happened to be there with my 701.

So we went, and I let the guy to fly the plane and just going around the area and everything usual. At some point I picked up some airspeed and pulled suddenly up and then pushed down causing us to hover at zero G for a few seconds. At the same time banked a bit right. Feels wild but its completely safe if you keep your eye on the airspeed. However, the passenger managed to kick his door open while I was focused catching my camera hovering in front of my face. So I did not even notice the thing until he started yelling "The door opened, the door opened..."

Every once in a while doors tend to open so no reason to panic, just pull the door back :) The 701 door opens only about less than half way open so its easy to close.

Sounds like she had a great experience that she will remember the rest of life.

I guess it was a bit of both...fear & fun. She was totally taken by the experience..."BUT" after a while I noticed her getting quiet. Niki is anything but "QUIET" so I figured she was getting air sick. Many years of into flights has taught me to be alert for these signs. So I gave her the other half of the centre "Y" stick and an intro flight control lesson to distract her attention from getting sick. She settled down and this picture is where I had her hold the "Y" stick while I took her picture.... so perhaps there is a little fear in those eyes? She never got sick and was back to her usual "WHoo Hoo" type self after landing. She wants to go again so it can't be too bad an experience ;>)

Bob,

I can't tell if she is happy or scared :)
