I am using the video from homebuilt help, and he instucted to draw a line 20mm in from the edge of the fiberglass tip, which worked well for me. I did trim the buttom of the nose skin about 20mm aswell, if I had tried to push it out to the end of the skin, I think I would have had a problem.
BTW, I am going to install a 3/4in LED light at the rip, instead of the $700 strobes, since strobes are not required here for day flying. The local parts store sells some nifty LEDs in red, green and clear
