This is the front spreader bar fitting. A float bar (wing strut material used) vertical from this to the firewall mount, and rearward on a diagonal to attach to the 4130 steel angle that replaces the 6061-T6 aluminum angle that presently hols your main gear spring on the CH750.

Sorry for the confusion, I should have said "other aircraft types" have the step further back. I contacted zenair and will get some of those lower fittings. Thanks

Pete

I have the same welded steel 4130 tube type fittings on the upper fittings. I will install as per Zenair plans, the CH750 with the light Rotax 912S engine needs the weight forward of the C of G. I don't understand where you have seen "most" CH750 on floats, to my knowledge mine is the 1st in North America to be flying on amphib floats, and the only other is in Italy. I figure Zenith's CH750 and Zenair floats are both built to the plans for proven success as a package.

I will give Zenair a call. The ones they sent me are welded steel, and a bunch of tubes, not nearly as good. I will probably use the lower fittings like yours, and make up something to attach to fuselage. Good article, I have seen it before. Where do you plan on positioning the step. The zenair plans say 2" aft of rear c/g but most seem to move it further back?

These are the Zenair factory supplied fittings from my kit. Highlanders are rag & tube construction. Follow this link to learn what you need to know or possible fuselage attachment fittings http://www.pipcom.com/~cowcam/floatgeo.htm#lotus

Hope that helps.

They are nice attach fittings. Not the zenair ones, did you make those yourself? I am trying to work out how I will attach mine to my Highlander so any ideas appreciated.
