Jerry - There are a couple of things I would do different. First, I would definitely invest in a turn and bank indicator.
If you happen to get in adverse weather conditions like a fog bank or something you'll need it. Currently I use my HSI screen on my GPS. I would also make panel space for my GPS. It will become one of your most important instruments. Merry Christmas and Best of Luck. - Chris
I like your simple instrument panel. thats what I have been looking for. All the other panels i've seen cost a fortune.
The spring loaded rudder looked like a nice addition when I first saw it on Larry page, but I hadn't ran into anyone else that had tried it. I've been "gorilla legging" it in the 701 for over 4 summers now and considering all low level bush stuff I do, I think it would help with the transition between planes. At work, we have a 172 on floats and a Navajo Chieftain, and usually the first take off in either one of those after flying the 701 for a couple weeks, I tend to over- correct. @ questions: Where did you get the springs? Did you lose any steering travel?
Thanks,
Elmer
