Another Jabiru needing an early top-end
With only 430 hours on the Hobbs Alan's Jabiru motor (SN 1,289) flunked its compression test because of stuck piston rings. In a few hours we had the "top-end" removed. The heads will be reworked and the pistons, rings and rod bearings replaced. Because we caught the problem early we saved the cylinders. My engine had the same problem. There are a variety of issues causing this. Newer Jabiru motors are less likely to suffer this problem.
