Online Community of Zenith Builders and Flyers
People often ask "How deep do your skis sink in the snow?" I threw a glove to help with a size reference. I did not get stuck either here at the field or on the Ottawa River today. I still think the wheel penetration skis is a compromise... about 30% longer take-off. But I am airborne 50% shorter than a 150 hp Citabria 7GCBC (flaps) on Trick-Air penetration skis. If the snow is deep, or you fly the remote country I would probably go straight skis and reduce drag + lighten the airframe by 3 tires.
