Terry, thanks for your note. I was recently in the Bushplane museum in  Sault Saint Marie, Canada where I took a photo of a ski very similar to your design from ? the fifties. I like the utilitarian concept of the penetration ski. Bob McDonald has made (and is enjoying )a great set of penetration skis. He is discovering the effects of snow thickness, density, temperature, air pressure on their performance.

I am looking forward to next winter.

The attached is probably a Beaver  - an order of magnitude larger than ours...

Hi conrad.. yes I have some pictures of the completed skis, and I have close to 10 hrs on them, have always had regular skis..but it is so much work to get the plane in and out of the hanger, and being limites from the local airport that I tried the wheel skis...little longer on the takeoff ( the wheels are down through 1 inch ) little shorter on the landing...added benifit of not having to mess with the brakes ect.. all in all I would proubly do the build again.. will try to post more finished pictures...  Oh I had a friend who bought a set of skis from Canada I took mesurements and modified them for the 701..the nose wheel was another story because of the prop it is wide and short but works well.. Terry, I have a 750 which I am planning to have on skis for next winter . Do you have any final photos of your completed skis on the plane? Did you design the skis or were they evolved from another type of ski pattern? Would you change anything on your design ? Thanks

Check out Turbulence Aviation web site for attachment design from ski to axle. They even have a version which retracts using a linear actuator.

Fab a duplicate version of the matco axle stub (with 3/4" solid axle) and bolt it on with same bolt pattern and longer versions of the bolts that attach your axle plate now to the inside of your spring gear.
