Though I don't think UV exposure will be an issue for my situation (Northeast part of the country and hangared) I figured it would never be an easier time to paint them then before install.

John - So far my flying without slats shows an honest 6 knot increase at cruise setting...I like that plus shedding 16 lbs and getting lowered stall speeds with VGs.

Bob - I can see that without the slats "protecting" the leading edge I could easily drag the fuel hose across the VGs.  Good reminder/"head up"

I didn't paint mine, either. They're clear and seem to blend with the paint on the wing. I think I knocked one loose while cleaning the plane, but never lost one otherwise. When I flew with slats off, they lowered the stall speed 5 kts!

I had Stolspeed VG on the CH601HD. Best $150 ever spent. Used them in clear unpainted version. Never lost any, but watch the fuel hose or gas can around them.
