That is exactly what we did. Having the wing root removable makes it easy to install/remove and inspect the wings and fuel lines. It also made getting a good fit on the wing root easy. We flushed the rivets on the first rib and used rivnuts at the screw locations. If you have any other questions or would like to look we will be at Oshkosh this summer or you can come to Texas or feal free to call me.

Scott,

Congratulations on a great 701 project!  I bet the turbo 701 draws attention where ever it flies.

I have been looking at your pix, particularly the wing root skin mods.  Looks like you separated the skins at the first rib to make a removable fairing where it extends inboard to the fuselage.  I am considering a similar change to my 750 project and was wondering if you had any helpful hints you gained from your experience.  Did you use flush rivets to attach  the inboard rivet line of the outboard section except where the screws were installed?

If and when you get a chance, I'd appreciate any advice you can provide.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Bill
