Engine, PSRU, compu-fire ign & dual Bing carbs looks like it will fit OK.

Gidday Norm. I bought my Compu-Fire unit from Great Planes in USA. They Sell VW conversions for A/C and my mate has one in his Preceptor Pup that looks good (not yet flown) so thought I'd go that way. EA81 dizzy is different to VW but I tuned mine down and inserted a sleeve to take the Compu-Fire pickup. Haven't started it yet but see no reason for it not to go as I've set it up for the different firing order and will lock the sleeve in place once I have established the best position while running. Any other adjustment will then be normal by turning the whole dizzy and locking adjust plate.............fingers crossed.

Hi Ian,

I too have a Subaru EA-81 in my Zenair. I installed the twin ignition coil modification but I'm curious about your Compu-fire Ignition system. Do you have any information on this system ? I went to their website but didn't find anything for EA-81s ??? Do you have instructions ? Model and part numbers ???

I have the same PSRU as Bob Stuart but Using the AeroInjector instead of BING carbs...

Thanks for sharing.

Norm

My buddy Bob Stuart plans built CH701 passed the MDRA inspection yesterday. He uses a Subaru with geared prop reduction of 2.3 to 1. He used a "posi carb." on his Subaru.
