I was looking on Barnstormers and Trade-A-Plane for O-200 engines. I fact there is one still on Barnstormers for 10K. A better deal than what I got. Sounds like a lot but shows 46hr SMOH, new crank, chrome cyls, all acc/logs. a crank is 4k, cyls can be 1k ea and all accessories can add up to 4 or 5k fast. That's with no labor. 46hr is like being new. By the way it's in Versailles, Mo. I bought this one because it was only 1 1/2 hr drive from home. No guarantees on used engines but price matters. Also looks like one in BC Canada for 4k zero hrs no cert.Barnstormers. A warn out engine is worth 3-4k if all is there and ready for rebuild. You can find good new rebuilds for 12-14k, certified. You don't need certified engine for amateur built. Builders should talk to a/p mechanics and ask them what price for each item on engine if new. Add up what it's worth when you find an engine with low hours with new crank or cylinders, or maybe rebuilt mags etc. Check the log for last compression test. There out there.

Tell us more about your O-200.  I get a lot of inquiries about used Continentals, on how to locate one, price range, etc.
