I use a level too, but I only feel comfortable if it "looks" straight. It's amazing how well you can see slight variations.

First of all Steven, scratch built is still such an amazing thing to me. Cudos.
First wing I got straight, but more wrinkles in nose skin.
Second wing nose is better but the clecos don't line up perfectly.
And that's the key - you don't need to be perfect. And when you stand back and look at the completed plane, you'll be hard pressed to see anything but success.
Also, I've seen some of your pictures before and enjoy the ones with your son helping the most.

I feel the same way, I learned early on that I can sight down the material and see the slightest variation also.
