The bigger challenge is the nose ribs - you have to trim some length off the first couple of ribs because of the beefed-up main spar - so I'm thinking about using a laser level to sight down the tooling holes... that should get them just about perfect.
Bart,
I use 2 pieces of 2" x 10' x 11-gauge square steel tube. Then I level those to each other, and make sure the front spar is sitting on one and the rear spar is sitting squarely on the other. Then I check level before drilling skins. Sighting down the spars, they are as straight as could be.
I have to say - Zenith has really done a great job of engineering the spars & skins too. My spars came completely pre-drilled to A5 rivet size for every single rib station... so there is quite literally no guesswork about positioning the ribs correctly. When I laid my skins down, my center blue-lines were just about perfect on every single rib, with very little adjustment necessary. The skins laid down with absolutely no puckering. My biggest challenge has been handling the skins by myself...
