I have two engines for sale a EA-81 and a EA-82 Turbo - I am using a corvair in my CH650 so I will not need them. I bought them from a guy who said they were running when he obtained them. They would…Continue

Hi Douglas,
Nice to see i'm not the only one without building nor flying experience building a plane (Ch750)!!! I am from Pointe-Claire(Quebec)...suburbs of Montreal.
I'm curious to see what make you decide on the Corvair engine instead of the Rotax or Jabiru or others?? Aside from price that is,,
Good luck with your project.

Hi Doug
I will have to get back to you on the price for the 3/4x3/4, since it was quite a while since I bought mine. Do remember that it was pretty inexpensive. The shipping is the killer, because of its length. "Metals"r"Us is not an aircraft metal supplier.....so prices are a lot lower!

Hi Doug
I helped build a KR2 (composite) and also have built a Volksplane (VP2) (wood and fabric), actually building two in the process of completing one!.

Presently working on a 601/650....since I will most certainly retrofit the my 601 project with the 650 canopy. Luckily this is easily done on the stage I am presently at. I was at Oshkosh when they unveiled the 650 and the canopy is much nicer than the original one designed for the 601XL.
Have the tail completed, the wings for the most part (minus skinning)...including the spars, and have the plastic wing tips too. Do not have the tanks done and am contemplating buying them from Zenith, since welding aluminum is an art in itself. Starting on the fuselage slow but sure.
I have the landing gear plus the wheels and brakes, and the nose gear.
Have made some of the odds and ends as well, when I have "extra" aluminum available.
I
I like the Corvair engine as well, and have talked to William Wynne at Oskosh a few times and he is a great resource when building the Corvair. Make sure to read up about the 5th bearing as well, since I believe it is one of the major advances to the engine that have been made.

Building from plans is great, if you are not in a hurry; Built a homemade brake to bend the 25 thou aluminum, and it works great! Currently my job is cutting into my building time quite a bit. Keep in touch, nice to see another Canadian builder around.
