Hey John, Thanks for the message. I have all the big parts installed or ready to install. Its time for million little to-do's now. Tom
My little project is going together beautifully. Wish I had more time to work on it. I totaled up my hours and days working on it and it surprised me! I have 112 days at 809 hours no wonder my wife said I'm not home when I'm home always in your shop. Tail feathers are mounted and done fuselage is on its gear and one wing is getting framed up. It's time to start looking for a hanger it's taking up my whole shop. I'm looking for some place close to where I'm working but not much luck yet. I might get a couple weeks at the end of February befor this Job kicks off. Yes I'm going to use the O290D I have two of them now and still looking for more lol it's almost time to start rebuilding one of them. I'm planning on using a airmaster 3 blade prop on it. So I should get some good numbers I hope.
Jon, I ordered the tail kit for the 750 stol, so here we go!
jon if you get a chance, give me a ring at208- 610-3686, thank you
thank you jon, do you know anybody in the area that owns a 701?
Yes we do and will be happy to assist you, My husband will do it and he will contact you shortly. He is delivering a Zodiac to NC right now. Our email is buzzair@birch.net Buzz is 775 841 5429
Hi Jon, The O-290 added 30 pounds over the O-235. I'm not sure if much HP advantage was added. at 75% power it will cruise at 125 or so. But I think I may have power issues elsewhere. The prop is a 68" 3 blade warp drive. I used light weight a light weight prop, altenator, starter, and battery. and made up for the added weight. I am going to switch from the slick mags to an electronic ignition. I am tickled at the way it flys. I was leery of the rudder but once it was airborne all my doubts went away.
Jon,
Thanks for your comment of encouragement about me making my first part. I bought the plans back in January and have been working towards acquiring and making the tools and jigs to get me to this point. I know my progress will not be a record setter since I am only able to devote one day a week to my project (I work two jobs) but, that is OK with me. My motto in my professional life as well as for this build is “One thing at a time.”
Earnie
