I'm in Hastings Florida 15 miles west of Saint Augustine Fl. Hastings Blvd 13FA
I am in the process of finishing a 701 Scratch built from partial kit and used 701 parts, Jabiru 2200A engine I'm rebuilding. close to 75% done and ready just got an N number for it and hope to fly it late September or October. I have a set of straight floats for mine and plane to convert them to amphibs as soon as I finish plane build. I'd like to make them a quick turn around application so it's easy to switch back and forth. Jab 2200 A isn't much of a powerhouse but I've flown a few and they aren't gang busters but cheap to fly and if you take care of them they will last. can't beat them up or get them hot (especially) and there's a few mods to be done upfront. You probably know more than I do about them. I've done 5 or 6 of them but I'm an old-time engine racing type guy so modifications is the word of that day (when working on them) only ones I haven't fooled with YET are the series 4 Jabs.no doubt soon someone will find me. I hide a lot LOL.
I am an A&P/IA with thousands of hours flying just about anything and have flown ALL of Zenith's aircraft at one time or another. Ferring them all through United States and a couple up into Canada. Getting older now and this will be my last build. Oh I am still an Active certified Flight Instructor.
Hope to meet you one day if I already haven't (LOL) getting old and losing friends, names remembering meetings so on and so forth. I've met lots of great folks.
drop me a note and let me know how your coming along with your project. if you need flight review or something just holler, I'm retired so it's not a job much anymore It's just my lifelong hobby! and fun to fly. I mostly do Annual's for GA planes for extra money the rest is mostly to stay in the game and help the experimental folks new to the world of flying their own. I know Roger and Sebestian quite well and was, until last year, a Judge at the Sun & Fun show for experimental planes.
God Bless
