Ray,

What is your status these days? Getting closer to flying? I have a few months and about 20 hours on since incorporating the upgrades. I hope to fly up to Oshkosh again this year if the weather cooperates.

That is a very positive and potentially productive attitude Ray.Good luck and good progress with the process.

I made my first out of state XC yesterday. Galveston, Texas took a bit under three hours round trip. All went well. There were a few moderately bumpy patches so I slowed down and sought a better altitude as much as I could.

Well professor, are you going back to the drawing board or will you fly your own personal deathtrap as is? How's the weather in Missoula these days?

Remember to wear a bib when doing the wiring so that salivation will not corrode the connections ;-)

I finished the forty hours today and I'm looking forward to fly-ins, airshows, and pancake breakfasts around the state. I also hope to visit some builders who are in neighboring states within reach. Rest assured, vigilance and continued tweaking are still on the agenda.

Raymond, looks like you're getting close? Have you received your airworthiness certificate?

Well, how's it going up yonder Ray? Haven't heard from you in a while and I got to wondering what progress you have made.

I flew 1.75 hr. last week but then the Memorial Day weekend and family activities intervened. I used the hiatus to clean up the bottom of the fuselage (lots of soot from break-in which entails high throttle/rich mixture). I added an 8" chromed, turn-down extension to the exhaust pipe to divert the exhaust stream away from the plane as much as possible. I've also taped the edges of the belly hatch because I was getting CO indictations on the detector. we suspected that the fumes were being sucked in at the hatch due to low ambient pressure in the tailcone of the fuselage. I'll probably fly some more on saturday morning and see if I have improved anything.
