Just thought I would post an update on the condition of the vinyl wrap that covers my entire 701, after five years.
In short, it still looks brand new! Everywhere I go people ask me what it cost for the paint job. They are shocked that my 701 is not painted! They walk up close and look at the rivets and tell me that I am pulling their leg! I can only convince them by showing them a seam.
About three years ago a tire went flat and, since the fuel tanks were full, the upper…

hi rod how much is the wrap for a 701 and what has to be done as prep what colors how is it applied how long does it take joe where can it be purchased??
Who applied the wrap for you? It covers pretty well . Did you get a vinyl weight as it looks like something for my 750.

The plane looks great!
I'm also interested in the vinyl wrap, used to use a similar process for finishing model planes - never knew you could do the full size versions that way too. Please keep us all up to date with how it goes - I think there'll be many people interested!
Cheers, Marty
Congrats on the plane. Was just up in my buddy Doug Macdonalds 701 and it was a blast.I'll watch for the updates on the vinyl wrap. Maybe something for me to think about when completing my 750

Hi Rod, I too did some experimenting with vinyl wrap film and found it easy to apply with the squeegee provided. I applied mine to the glareshield much like it appears you did on your 701. After watching the online videos of guys wrapping mirrors, bumpers, and dashboards, I don't expect the compound curves on my CH 650 to be much more complex. I had found a vinyl flex wrap product (3M) at metrorestylng.com I was curious what supplier(s) you may have located?
Thanks,
Dave Gardea
