Hello,
My name is Mr. Michael Mccarthy, I have contacted you before without any response from you. Please replied if you receive this message. I have something very important to discuss with you, I have a vital information to give you. Could you please get back to me on (mmichaelmccarthy4@gmail.com ) for full details.
Michael Mccarthy.
Thanks Stanley for recommending George Race.
George's access covers sound like a good way to gain entry behind the panel
for maintenance purposes. The windshield will need to be removed first, but that part is easy in a 701.
The FRONT TOP SKIN I believe is structural, so if we install access panels we would need to add some kind of reinforcement for the remaining material?
There are other interesting items on George's webpage!

That OV squadron you had(commanded?)...was that the (Navy) Black Ponies out of Bhin Tuy(I think it was Bhin Tuy) down in 4 corp? I used to work with them covering the convoy up the Mekong supplying Phnom Penh. They carried 5" Zunis. Very good stuff. That was in 70/71
Interesting times...

Yes the tent hangar works OK it is semi-permanent because i dont own the place its at and with no building permits reqd. and 1/2 a day to shift it was the best option. (the owner lives there, otherwise I would have done a Baracuda shed of steel, because polyester tarp is not secure)
The only thing that has been a worry is the straight roof portals, because water can pool and slump the tarp down, unless relieved by drains which I put just inside the perimeter of the canopy.
It would be worth considering curved portals, howver this cant be done with the aluminium tubes I used, and i didnt want to do it in steel.
cost NZ$3,000 all up includung the floor (more tarp). Its had some severe weather and seems OK. I tie the plane up inside just to be sure it cant get blown into the portals if the cover goes.
I did the hangar from 5 metre lengths 35 mm dia 1.6 wall Al tubing for the straight runs of the roof and 2.25 metre 3mm wall tubing for the sides that fits inside the straight runs, with a 75 degree bend near the junction. the apex joins are of same 3mm wall tube bent 30 degrees. The side tubing ends are bolted to wood posts in the ground giving a width of 11 metres and height at the apex 3 metres, and about 2 metres height near the sides. there are also 5 tubes along the length, 1 along the apex, and front and rear end braces.
I have a brace tube at the rear from the apex down to a post outside. Spacing between portals is 1.95 metres because the polyester tarp needs joining space from the 4 metres width it comes on the roll. 50 metre roll. 315 gsm weight.
We have already moved the hangar across the runway to a new spot, by driving new posts in the ground and unbolting from the old place, with 10 guys and a calm day just walked the whole canopy there.
