Last Thursday Tom left the hospital and was moved to a rehab center, which means when he proves he can take care of himself he will be on his way home.

This whole episode has proved one thing to me. Do your research, choose a plane which meets your needs, choose a company that will back you, choose an engine that’s proven, and follow the plans. Than you can post what RW Hunker did (1000 hrs. and 15 years). What more can you ask?

A few weeks ago the snow geese started to arrive in full force and spread out all over the valley in which I live. This started about five years ago and it seems more and more are joining the fray.  Winter wheat   planted in fall stands about two inches high at this time of year is tops on the menu. Flocks like the ones shown can destroy a field in one day, it is to the point farmers are planting more corn in place of wheat. Along with some corn my land is planted…

The last of the ENOLA GAY crew has gone west. For years the surviving crew was the main attraction at WW11 weekend held at READING PA. They will be missed. It was in the nineteen forties when PAUL TIBBETS in a B17 transported (DUTCH) VANKIRK to his home at NORTHUMBERLAND PA.They landed on a grass strip located on PACKER ISLAND which is now SUNBURY  (71N). Winter has once again set in once again in Pennsylvania. The geese are back by the thousands. All the abandoned quarries are wall-to-wall geese. Living in a cement producing area, quarries provide safe haven from coyotes, fox and stray cats. Each morning like a living cork screw they leave in search of winter wheat, corn and bean fields. The summer flying is over, the lawn mowing is done, the garden veggies are in the freezer and the leaves are raked and hauled away. Winter is setting in once more in Pennsylvania so its time to tuck my 701 safely away.
