The 093 aluminum angle that Zenith specifies in the drawings is a custom extrusion made only for them. The standard practice for us scratch builders has been to use 125 aluminum angle in its place. Yes, it is slightly heavier and yes, it has a slightly different profile. Just make sure you are getting the called for grade when you buy it, 6061-T6 or 2023-T3 as is specified in your plans. Do Not substitue -0 aluminum.

Many people to save money substitute the extrusions, the bad part is that you are adding weight.

Hi Jesse, welcome to the wonderful world of plans building! From what I understand, .125 is the accepted replacement for the .093 angle. I just bought the .125 angle to start on my forward fuselage in a few weeks. I have found that Zenith is outstanding at answering tech questions.
