This is my first time posting my blog of the build (Zenith CH-701.) I spent the better part of the past 2 months going over the plans and working out the exact dimensions of the "curvy parts." This has really been fun working on and starting the build. I needed something to ground me and get started working on the plane. I have never built an airplane, but I know I can do it. My bio may explain some of that confidence. I chose to make the curvy parts form blocks and that is what I did.

I have a Lead 1515 CNC router and Vectric Aspire 12.5. I just finished cutting the form blocks out of 3/4 " MDF so I can start forming parts. I sat down with the parts today and measured out the dimensions as best as I could to see how the cuts went. For example, the spoiler has an interesting way to check the dimensions. I set the spoiler rib at that angle off that radius, and then used a bunch of geometry to see if the back of the rib lined up, and it was nailed to the millimeter. For those who are engineers, please forgive me for not being as precise as you may want. I just cut out all the curvy parts and couldn't believe how well they came out. I also made a router box that I will include as a photo. Good stuff. I hope everyone else is having a great time building. I see a lot of the posts but have not been able to participate. Now I may have something to say. I will probably just keep my comments to myself. Take care, and enjoy the photos if you like that kind of thing.
