Online Community of Zenith Builders and Flyers
My Zenith builder partner and I were looking for a cheap way to house our 750 and 650 aircrafts in a single hangar and save some expense, this is our solution built from a modified Harbor freight lift table. The 750 is lifted high enough to roll the 650 under the wing and then lowered again. The table is rated for 1000 lbs. and raises our planes 18" off the floor, we have left the planes elevated for several days and no hydraulic leakage has occurred. The build cost using the Harbor Freight table 69148, steel tubing and wood lift blocks cost less than $375. This lift table would be handy for brake jobs, tire changes and many other jobs.

I got a Harbor Freight motorcycle hoist, which is very similar, and use it to lift/lower my lower cowl on the 750. A plastic tub is secured to the lift and is contoured and padded to fit the cowl. It is not that the fiberglass cowl is heavy, which of course it isn't, but it is bulky and awkward and the lift makes it a breeze for one person to remove and reinstall the cowl since it raises and lowers it evenly. I can just leave it on the lift to hold it while I do maintenance with a single bungee holding down the front.
Bet you could make something similar with your hoist, too!
Great Idea!
