A funny thing happened at the local open house ...

My local municipal airport had an open house last Saturday and the FBO manager begged me to display my 750. Of course, that didn't take much arm-twisting! HA!

I was determined, however, to not let the plane out of my sight while on display as I have heard horror stories of little kids swinging form various parts of planes that were never intended to bear any abuse, parents plopping kids in the pilots seats and getting spills and/or the products of various kid's orifices on your seat covers, etc.!

So, sticking close, proud of my "baby" and the quality of my build, proud of my paint job and scheme, etc., I listened closely for comments from the general, non-flying public.

The one thing they touched the most, admired the most, and commented the most about was the Sensenich wood prop! Over and over they said they didn't realize that props were still being made out of wood! Hopefully, they thought the rest of the plane was "OK", too! LOL!

John,

I've gotten the very same comments from many people!  They are shocked when I tell them that Sensenich produces 500 per month for the US Air Force for use on drones and throws them away after 3 flights!

I actually had one person say "I thought they only used wood props to mount clocks in for your mantle."

I get the same disbelief about wood props on my 601XL all the time.  A curious bunch those non-aviation types are, right?
