Online Community of Zenith Builders and Flyers
Opening Day finally arrives.
Thursday, Jan 27, we officially opened the doors to our new Zenith Kit Assembly Center.
The photo at the left shows my wife Diane, our son Craig and I, in the AmLSA front work area just before the Grand Opening.
We timed the opening to correspond with Zenith's January Rudder Workshop and provided a luncheon for all of the participants. Of course we didn't leave out the Zenith staff either.
Sebastian Heintz, owner of Zenith Aircraft was on hand for our Grand Opening, as well as Zenith's Demo Pilot, Roger Dubert, and of course Zenith's in house engineer Caleb Gephardt.
The Mexico Area Chamber of Commerce held a brief ribbon cutting ceremony followed by some photo opportunities, a tour of Our New Climate Controlled Facility, and of course lunch for the Rudder Workshop Attendee's and everyone else who attended the grand opening.
There was plenty of food and refreshments for everyone who showed up. There was in fact in excess of 50 people including the Zenith workshop folks, Mexico Chamber of Commerce, local business persons, and of course a number of city, county, and state officials.
This is the beginning of a new, and long lasting relationship between AmLSA and Zenith Aircraft. We are doing our very best to open a truly First Class Kit Assembly (Builder Assist) Center here. It is a very nice, comfortable, place to come and work on assembling your project on your own, or to receive some instruction and/or assistance.
I prefer the term "Kit Assembly" instead of Builder Assist. It means something different to everyone. To some people it means just having the space, with the right tools and in a comfortable atmosphere to do the work. While others would like some varying degree of assistance, and that can mean anything from answering a question to building the entire airplane.
At American Light Sport Aircrafters we intend to provide assistance for all levels of Kit Assembly. We have designed our facility around that concept and will have separate sections of our buildings for things like workshops, Planning and Research, and a Media Room. The work areas are divided up between tail sections, fuselage, wings, electrical and panel building, engine work & mounting, and paint. Don't like the community atmosphere? We even have limited Private Building Suites available.
We are planning to offer a luncheon for each of Zenith's Monthly Rudder Workshops. In addition to that, beginning with the February rudder workshop we will begin holding our own Monthly Tail Empennage Workshop.
The Tail Workshops will begin at our facility when the Zenith Rudder Workshop ends. Our Tail Empennage Workshop will offer builders the opportunity to complete the Horizontal Stabilizer and Elevator in the following 3 1/2 days.
Participants will be building in a comfortable, climate controlled (summer and winter), and encouraging atmosphere of a professional assembly center.
The Tail Workshop cost is $300 for the 3 1-2 days. Space is limited and requires pre-registration.

Larry,
Although we are planning other workshops we do not have costs or times set for any of them right now. Which ones are you interested in?
