Bob's Cherokee 1972 PA28-140
I'm not ready to give up flying.... and I found an aircraft abandoned 16+ years in a hangar. In February with the snow waist deep the new owners of the hangar were considering calling the salvage yard to dispose of "The Cherokee". The new owners of the hangar had a Aeronca Chief and Luscombe and no need of the Cherokee. I agreed to buy the Cherokee and hire the AME Chief owner to completely go through the aircraft and recertify it. A new zero time engine and prop after all the spar inspection AD's were completed. A 406 ELT, rewiring of the wings when the fuel tanks were removed, Hoerner wingtips, Art Mattson VG's, LED lighting and strobes, brakes and seals and lots of labor to complete the project. In a way the Cherokee & I are a lot alike, we both have rebuilt "zero timed" hearts and neither of us are ready to quit flying yet.
