After a few more flights testing heat ,i nmade a heat shield for the nose gear bungee
here is the picjust a simple piece of .016 sheet flanged on the ends and bolted on the the gear channel
I also made a simple 2 " lower lip on the cowling
That one I made out of .025
i flew it to see the results
now the ambient was lower that the last test but I had much lower OIL and CHTs
but most important was the bungee never go high then ten degrees above ambient !!
now Im going to move the temp probe around a bite and see the temps but after the flight I touched the bungee and just felt around for temp , the bungee was not hot anyhwere and the heat shield was . It clearly was doing the job
Now I know the lower lip and the hose helped but even if you do not put a hose on to the bungee at least the heat shield helps
Comment
How are you going to inspect the bungee cord with the heat shield in place?
Well Done, Tracy.
