Hi Alex, I can only speak of my own experience here, I have a Cont. C-90 with a ground adjustable Whirlwind prop. I've got about 70 hrs on it now, and I'm very satisfied with the performance. I get anywhere from 600-900 fpm climb and a cruise speed of 88-90 mph @ 2470 rpm. I've had no cooling problems once I got my baffling & cowling tweaked correctly, and I do not have an oil cooler or fuel pump. There are more powerful & lighter engines out there, but I like simple and proven & that's what I've got with this set up. Whatever you go with, I would suggest a ground adjustable prop so you have options.
