Data from latest static run up yesterday for the Viking 130 installed in our Zenith CH-750

Here are the 10/19/2017 data from my latest static run up yesterday for the Viking 130 installed in our Zenith CH-750 here at the Downtown Airport, Springfield, MO

RROP RPM ENGINE RPM COOLANT TEMP (F) GEAR BOX TEMP (F) FUEL PSI FUEL FLOW (GPH)
1140 2279 153 111 46
1970 3000 160 113 46
2490 4980 167 126 47 7.3
2520 5040 176 138 45 7.4

Observations by Viking:

  • At this propeller setting, the engine can develop 112 hp static
  • At this propeller setting, the engine will develop 120 hp in a 5,400 rpm / 8 gph climb
  • At this propeller setting the engine will produce 90 hp (70%), using 6 gph at a 5,000 rpm cruise
  • At this propeller setting the CH-750 can fly sightseeing at 3.5 gph

We had an EAA 821 breakfast and a “show and tell” meeting yesterday morning at the Springfield Downtown Airport. There was a lot of interest in the Viking 130 as installed on our CH-750.  It is always interesting to see the response when the engine starts and runs up to speed without any hesitation...

I just posted the info.  I did not do this run.  However, for the 3 bladed Whirlwind propeller on the Viking 130, Patrick might have some numbers for you since he is playing with propeller pitch right now.

Jan,

RE: the 10/19/2017 data from your static run up for the Viking 130 installed in your Zenith CH-750 at the Downtown Airport, Springfield, MO., what was your propeller setting?

Thanks, Bill

I just ordered a rudder kit for the 750 to start my first build. Only a Viking engine is going in my plane.

It is not.  Why do you think so?

Is this with the DUC controllable pitch prop?
