Online Community of Zenith Builders and Flyers
After reading about others taking their slats off on this web site I decided to try it. I have to say I am very happy with the results. I have my own air strip. It is 1000' with power lines at both ends. It makes it a challange to land. especially since I am a new pilot. It seems to be just as easy to land without the slats. I have mounted the stolspeed VG's.The cruise speed did increase 6 to 8 kts. just as the posts claimed. But what I like most is the attitude of the plane at cruise speed. It now flys level. I can see more than blue sky at level flight. Now I need to decide what to do with the slat brackets.

Did you see my forum post, "Slat Support Cover" ?? Look at the replies and photos posted by John L Austin. I think I'll copy what John did with the slat brackets, but I'll wait until late spring. In addition to the wing VG's do you by any chance also have the Zenith VG upgrade ?
David,
If you don't plan to sell your plane (with slats) any time soon, just cut off the slat brackets for good. Slats can be put on sale for a new builder. Or you can use them as attractive sign boards.
