Has anyone attached a GoPro camera to the wing of a 601 XL? I am looking at ways of doing this - I hear the 3m adhesive mount will be strong enough but it would probably take off the paint when trying to remove it at a later date. Any advice?
Comment
I thought about using a tether, but concerned if I did lose the camera, then the camera or the tether cable would damage a flying surface.
Great idea! I will feel a lot happier with a tether attached.
Why not install a rivetnut close to the location and use it as a security tether in case the mount does come loose.
Thanks Jerry, Gecko ordered. Still going to be a bit nervous about losing the camera for the first few flights though!
The attached videos show GoPro's being attached with suction cup mounts. Be careful here, I lost an old GoPro from my wing when I was using the GoPro brand suction cup mount. I've used a Gecko suction mount on the rudder, wing, horizontal stabilizer and on the belly of the aircraft and haven't lost a camera yet.
See this video and the comments for more info on mounting.
