Say folks... wondering if there is anyone within reasonable distance in and around the Austin Texas area willing (and interested) in getting together to share ideas and builders support?  I am well into my Ch701.. but.. the more technical aspects are challenging, i.e., bending aluminum skins to form elevator.. wings, etc... I would like to get things right the first time around..

I'm game... you're a little over an hour away from where I am ... Yes ... it would be great being able to locally consult and commiserate ....

Yeah, I'm in the Austin area.  Halfway between Dripping Springs and Bee Caves, of Hamilton Pool Road.  I'm working on a Zodiac 601XL-B and I'm just about to the same point you are.  I'd love to trade tips with you.

Thanks Damon and Frank for your replies!  I do appreciate it... Yes.. the skins come pre-bent but as you know, it's the pulling them over the skeleton that I am concerned with ... not so much the rudder... more the elevator ... I didn't do so well my first go 'round with that and I really hate getting experience buying replacement parts...

Frank.. you are within shouting distance.. almost ... Yes.. I would very much appreciate seeing if we can cross paths... my email is: rodmoline@hotmail.com

Hi Rod!  I'm building a 750 and live in the Lakeway (Austin) Texas area.  I might be able to provide some guidance based upon my experience.  I definitely would enjoy sharing ideas and builders support.  I have completed the rudder, stab, elevator, flaperons, slats, wings, floats, and am about 85% completed on the fuselage.  Frank

Your profile shows you are building from a kit. I thought everything was bent in the kit? Regardless, bending the elevator is not that bad. I can provide more details of my experience for bending the elevator skin on a 650 if you wish.

Thanks Normand... Hopefully, aside from the general EAA clubs that are around, I can connect with a CH701 builder (experienced at least) to provide some guidance ... I am not into just 'muddling' through ... certainly not with an airplane!  Unfortunately, I am off the beaten path which makes it challenging ...

Hi Rod,
too bad you are so far away. Your plane looks good. Keep up the good work and wish you find the support you need.
Regards,
Norm
