On Friday Morning February 11, 2011 at about 7:15 AM I took off for the first time in N949TF from St. Louis Downtown Airport (KCPS) using runway 12R. My intent was to do a fast taxi, liftoff and touchdown and then go back for the actual takeoff. Had a light tail/crosswind and when I lifted of I was uncomfortable with the drift and just firewalled it and climbed out. Flew for between 45 min and an hour and the first landing was very nice. I will post photos and the landing video. Notice the gateway arch in the background on landing rollout. Flew for a second hour on the 13th and did touch & go's. Got real comfortable with it then. Hi Timothy,
Your landing looked great. (Not to mention, you A/C looks real nice. Will have to update my pics soon. Thanks for the confidence booster about A/C handling.
YEAH! Another Tim flying a 601 in the St Louis area. Congratulations! I flew Sunday Feb 13 as well. I can see a formation flight of two 601's for an Arch flyby. We could get John Cange with his plane for a flight of three!
I second the point of flying with Roger before first flight if you can.
Congratulations!!!
Nice landing
Jerry
