Part 16: Installing the "Upgrade Package" to our Zodiac CH 601 XL: Installing the L-angle stiffeners to the top of the rear skin

We've made excellent progress over the past holiday weekend finalizing the drawings and verifying the parts. The wings are done and the center spar section is being verified.

As mentioned earlier, Gus Warren of FlyWithGus.net has announced that he will be hosting a Zodiac CH 601 XL "Upgrade Workshop" at his facility in Edgewater, Florida the second weekend in December. This will be a great opportunity for East Coast Zodiac XL builders, owners, and pilots to learn about the new upgrades, and how to install them.
We are planning to send a batch of Upgrade Package kits (pending availability) to Gus in Florida so that those of you who attend his workshop can pick-up Upgrade Package kit at the same time.
Gus is an A&P mechanic with many years experience working on Zeniths. For more information, contact Gus at 386-316-6324 or 505-363-9221

On to installing the L-angle stiffeners to the top of the rear skin:
While the top skin is still removed from the wing assembly, we installed the L-angle stiffeners to the top rear skin (we had previously installed the L-angle stiffeners to the bottom rear skins):

Using a laser for the straight edge:

Steve marks the position line for the L-angles, and then pre-drills the skin (pilot holes):

Next, Steve trims the L-angle stiffeners to length:

...and then drills through the pilot holes into the L-angle stifferens:
