The tail kit minus the rudder arrived today. No forklift blade shaped holes or obvious signs of it being drop kicked all the way from Mexico, Missouri were observed. All in all receiving the crate went way smoother than I though it would go. I followed Harmen van der Velden's method and rented a Uhaul to pick it up. Since I don't have a garage, let alone a forklift to move a crate around at home, this made unpacking the contents of the crate into the workshop significantly easier.
All items were unloaded, inspected and marked off from the packing list. As a side note, beyond the items listed on the Zenith web store and in the plans, you also receive a hardware kit with a Ray Allen T2-7A trim servo, trim switch, trim position indicator, along with various other items for the servo installation. You also get 600 1/8" (A4) and 425 5/32" (A5) rivets as well as 5 AS5 stainless steel rivets. If I had ordered the rudder I would have also received 175 A5 and 125 A4 rivets for that.
In case anyone is wondering, the crating fee was $210.00, shipping was $275.00, and the Uhaul cost me $54.13. It would have cost me an extra $150.00 for the shipping company to deliver it to my house, so I saved myself about $100.00 and potentially a lot of stress. Well worth it. The only question left is what do I do with all of this?:
