With the opening day slated officially as "Chris Heintz Day" at AirVenture, Chris had many activities scheduled during the first couple of days.  My son Calvin, age 17, was tasked with escorting Chris during the week to make sure that he did not miss any of his appointments.  Since Calvin plans to study engineering he was quite interested in spending the week with his grandfather at AirVenture.
Below, Calvin is seated with Chris in the CH 650 aircraft:

Following the opening events on the ConocoPhillips Plaza, Chris had several forums scheduled to discuss his designs and his design history.  Below, Chris chronicles his forty year design history with a slide show of his various designs.

In another forum, Chris discusses the STOL (short take off and landing) design features of his high wing designs:
Below, Chris demonstrates the airflow over a wing equipped with a leading edge slat:

The "Homebuilders Hangar" on the EAA AirVenture grounds is an excellent new venue to hold forms and workshops, allowing us to bring in two aircraft into the hangar for the forum.

Below, Chris discusses the Zodiac design and history, using Al Beyer's CH 601 HDS aircraft as a prop.

A walk-around the STOL CH 750 was also possible to showcase all the unique high-lift design features of the STOL aircraft:

Chris was also busy the first day with a book signing in the EAA Wearhouse of his new book "Flying on Your Own Wings"
Back on the flightline, more Zeniths arrive during the first few days:
