I fly out of the pave Oakdale Airport, 200' elevation where the density altitude rarely exceeds 2000 feet. Hopefully I will start construction on my own later this year. Just wondering what kind of turf would be best.

Rick: My plane is based at my home outside of Turlock. I have a 900' strip with 50' trees on the north end and 20' almond trees on the south end. If there is little or no wind, I usually takeoff downwind (wind typically is from the north) to avoid flying low over the neighboring ranchettes.

The weather is clear today and I hope tomorrow. Maybe I can take my wife to lunch at Los Banos. This time of year I don't like to get too far since the fog can sneak in.

Richard: Sounds like fun if the weather in the valley ever clears up. I have about 47 hours on my 701 at this point and have not ventured farther than Lodi at this point.
