Having problems with my EarthX battery, weather finally cool enough to fly and I’m stuck on the ground. Seems like there is always something

Thanks for the update.  Glad it worked out for you.

Hi Loren,

yes it was, turned out the battery had overheated - it had bulged out quite a bit. I had not given any thought to heat protection for the battery and box, something I’ve  ow taken care of.

Despite being just one week from my warranty expiration, and arguably a self inflicted problem, EarthX replaces the battery free of charge. My whole interaction with them was excellent throughout,

Curious, was your battery problem resolved? We kept our aircraft outside all winter in Anchorage and the engine started well even with temps as low as 18ºf. Having gone through the entire winter stored outdoors, our EarthX 680 batteries are still doing well.

Put an Odessey 680 on it & forget about it.

The fault light has started flashing when the engine is running, indicating an unbalanced cell according to the manual. When I put it on the optimiser the light goes out and the battery seems fine.... until I start the engine and then it comes on again.

I'm troubleshooting with EarthX (who are giving me excellent customer service), but my two year warranty is up in three weeks so I am anxious to work this out quickly. We're going to check the whether the battery is still holding a charge (my panel indicates 13.1V fully charged but it needs to be 13.28V at the terminals), and if the light keeps coming on, probably a cell went bad.

What's the EarthX problem?
