Met my insurance requirements. New, and unproven, plane so they wanted 10 hours of dual time before covering me on a SOLO flight. Got that done today after mastering the different landing characteristic of the STOL design! Took MY plane for my first solo flight in it! She flew flawlessly!!! Now that I know how to handle her, I can't wait to start getting some serious hours done! Lovin' my 750 STOL!!!! :D

Congratulations! I can imagine the great feeling after the 1st landing :)

The center stick is quite common in light aircraft as it is a bit lighter. However, the cabin especially in the 701 is pretty tight and at least I (190cm) had clearance issues with the Y-stick. The stick rested all the time on my knee preventing free movement.. Anyway, I replaced the Y-stick with a new one, with a straight single handle and the stick bent a bit forward.

I like the dual controls but I've never tried the "Y" stick so can't really fairly compare. The duals make it harder to get in and out and I had some issues with the flaperon throws, but not sure if that was stick related. They probably added a few pounds to the build as well. If I were to do it over, I'd probably think twice about putting them in, but I have no regrets now that they are in! Probably made my transition to the STOL that much easier since it's familiar! :D

Thanks for posting your flights Mark!! It's great flying along with you. Are you happy with the dual controls? Ordering my controls kits soon and not sure about the center stick. I know a lot of people love it.

Got my dual instruction as required for insurance. First flight on my own! Just a quick couple of circuits. Performed amazingly well! :D
