Landing and taking off a Missouri River sand bar and following the river

We got a call a couple weeks ago from Steve Smith (from California) who was planning to fly thriugh central Missouri (and the Zenith Aircraft kit factory) on his way to the east coast. Steve was flying his Zenith CH 601XL-B and was following the major river-ways wherever possible on the entire trip there.
As Steve was nearing central Missouri we flew to meet him in the air, flying the Zenith STOL CH 750 Super Duty (and we were joined by Dennis in his STOL CH 701). We arrived at the Missouri River early so decided to land on a river sand bar to check it out. (With his smaller wheels, Steve decided wisely not to land on the soft sandbar.) After, we flew the three planes along the river to Jefferson City (KJEF) for lunch, and Steve went on his way east...
