Tom
I also purchased my altimeter from ZAC. I haven't seen the problem that you mentioned. I've been up to 10.5K. Not sure about going any higher around here. Just too many 737's coming into Sky Harbor.

I don't have a VSI. To do my rate of climb, I use the video camera to record what is going on in the cockpit. I trim for a climb speed and then climb for 500 to 1000 ft, adjust climb speed, climb for 500 to 1000 ft and so on. Then I pull motor to idle and trim for a descent speed, descend for 500 to 1000 ft, trim for another speed, descend for 500 to 1000, etc. I then take the video to my computer where I get the time and altitude numbers for each speed. A lot of work but it should be more accurate than a VSI. It is also a way to check out a VSI.

I plan on being at Copper-State with my plane and grandson. Hope to see you there.

Hey Jerry, Thanks for the feedback on my performance questions! Sorry it took a while before I replied - your message went into my junk mail file - I'll fix that for any future mail. I'm seeing the same numbers you are and also share the same feelings about the landing speeds. I liked your video (Second flight) - good stuff! I'm just getting hooked up here on this site and not familiar with its nuances, etc but, will try to set some video footage in the future. I currently have 19.4 hrs on my ship and expect to hammer out more of the testing sequence this week. I got signed off on 9/15 and have been making small adjustments since then. On my flight this past Friday I was finally able to get straight and level, hands off - she flies nice now. I do have an issue with my altimeter - it was purchased new from ZAC and is a 'sensitive' model, good to 20K'. I have significant needle bounce that comes around the 900' mark - at all elevations so far up to 7k'. It may be an issue with the pitot or static line connection but, I was pretty sure I had that dialed in long ago. I'll be checking with ZAC today to ask them their thoughts. Have you seen that with your ship? I was viewing your video and didn't/couldn't see a VSI - perhaps it's out of view. Thanks again for your feedback/email! Will you be attending Copper-State Fly-In this year? I'm hoping I'll be able to make it - if so, we'll hook up there! Regards,
