Your name came up regarding Franklin 235 in a Cruzer. I have the firewall forward now and thinking about the Cruzer too. Interested in any comments you may provide.
Brian, You asked me about the strut fairing on the CH-801 that I built, the fairings came with the kit, offhand I don't recall if they were an add on or came with the standard kit, but they did come from Zenith.
I haven't started building. The Cruzer is on my short list of projects. I hope to get an up-close look at the plane at Sun-n-Fun this April and decide one way or the other.
I felt it needed a fuel pump , min fuel and high angle the flow was not very good and I thought the little electric boost pump would be good insurance. As for performace,it was not bad for a heavier engine. I have flow a lot of rotax and was really surprised by how good it could perform I think. A lot has to do with the whirlwind prop . You don't feel the steep climb out that you would with a rotax but it's not bad
I think the corvair is heavier than the 0-200 and you might have trouble keeping the thing cool , the STOL only flys at about 80-85 MPH
Although I have only taxied so far the corvair has worked out ok. Had a couple issues mostly because of having no experience with the Aerocarb I am using, there is quite a learning curve associated with it. I have contacted the FAA MIDO office locally and will be getting an airworthiness inspection with the next 2 to 3 weeks if it goes as planned. First flight will come very shortly after.
I wish you successful building. Stay at it. Do something every day to advance the project.
Thanks for your request I hope we ca share some information,Im in the process of building a cruzer with corvair engine. Previously build an ultralight.
My first pneumatic riveter I got on ebay, it has since broken. I now have a red one purchased at Angelo Bolt in San Angelo, TX. The nose piece I dished with a dremel tool and a round grinding bit. Some of the nose pieces are too hard to grind. Found my hand riveter used the same hose pieces.
Found a corvair engine on barnstormers 80% converted. Headed to Mexico, MO later this week for Corvair College and Zenith open house.

Glad you sent the request. DB
Awesome, do not hesitate to ask if you come into any issues with the wings.
Hey Bryan! I think so - not that many cruzer builders I know of, and none of the corvair builders here in CA i talked to at CC #37 are going Zenith.
you got pm
