My Jabiru 3300 destroyed itself at 773 hrs last month so I’m considering the Viking 130 as a replacement. Any advice from 601/650 owners would be greatly appreciated. I’m at I17 Piqua, Oh if anyone in the area would be willing to let me see their installation. On Viking’s site I found 2 601xls close by, I. Reznor in Lebanon, Oh and R. Monroe in Yorktown, In.

Have a 130 on my 701 and loving it. Straight forward installation. Viking was never more than a phone call away if I had any questions or issues. Cruise at 4950 rpm, 90 mph indicated and average 3 gph fuel consumption.

Thanks Mike. I’m trying to get a look at one installed. Was there anything not in the FWF kit that you had to get?

No, everything was included. The one thing I was not really happy about was the cowling. It was a "one size fits all" thing. More like a "one size fits most". I believe the mold must have been for a 750 which is a larger airframe. But with some trimming and reworking I was able to make it work.

Thanks agin Mike. Can you post some pictures of the install, battery location, wiring, instrument panel?

That is correct Mike, the 701 cowling was basically a squished 750 - not nearly as clean as the 650/750 versions now. I'm glad you made it work and are enjoying everything! -Alissa

Did you also order the engine wiring kit from Viking?

It's been quite a few years age. Not sure what you are referring to when you say, "engine wiring kit". There may have been changes since I purchased. Viking would probably be the best source for that info.

In reviewing the invoice from 2016, I received the engine wiring harness (pre-installed), ECU, engine buses (1 pos. 1 neg.), 60 amp. alternator fuse and holder, diode for contactors, master relay and a keyed starter switch. Viking View and Earth X battery were separate.

I installed a Viking 130 on my Zodiac, after having had a 100hp engine on it prior.  Quite an increase in performance.

There is a lot of information, including customer reviews and lots of photos and videos at https://www.vikingaircraftengines.com

FWIW, I've ordered a 2nd Zenith kit and plan to use a Viking engine on it as well.

Thanks

I have a good friend who recently bought a 750 Cruzer wreck to rebuild and decided it was too much.  He has the Viking 130 with a rebuilt gearbox, renewed prop and all the associated fuel stuff to go with it.  I think he will part with it all for a reasonable price.  The engine only had a few hr on it when it was wrecked on takeoff.  His name is Rodney Mulvania and he can be reached at 573-3015011 and is located in Linn, Mo
