I am having an issue with rivets on the wing. I clecoed it all together, drilled everything to size...#20. Then I took is all apart for deburring and clean up. Now when I reinstalled the skins, I'm finding that most rivets slip right in but a few will not go in completely...even using my rivet gun to apply pressure to them.

Ideas?

you can enlarge those holes and go a size up

When I run into that, the first thing I do is to re-install the cleco, remove it, and try again. If that doesn't work I run the original, correct sized bit through the hole. I am assuming that your alignment is minor (no quarter moons showing in the hole).

When you chase the hole with the correct size bit again, do you need to worry about deburring again?

I don't worry about it if it's just a minor adjustment. But I do cleco both sides of the hole before chasing it out, trying to keep the two pieces as close together as possible. I also use more clecos than many recommend on first assembly. I think this helps to minimize the problem you are having, but I may be deluding myself about that.

Thanks guys! I talked to Roger as well. Chase the hole and don't worry about deburring in this situation.
