I need to understand how far I can safely bend 1/4" (rubber type) flex fuel hose and when I should use a 90 degree (or 45) fitting instead.

At some minimum bend radius there is the potential for kinking and the potential for failure over time. In which case I would need to add another fitting (which I prefer to minimize).

I appreciate any input.
Thx
Gary

Gary - not sure if this helps but in AC 43.13-1B, Table 9-3 there is a min bend radius of 3" listed for 1/4" MIL-H-8794 type hose.  For MIL-H-5593 type hose I found a formula (for any size) equal to 12 x inside diameter.  Using that relation yields a min bend radius of 3" for 1/4" hose.  Good luck and hope this helps with your decision.

Dave

I think that's the exact answer I was looking for.

I am looking at about a 6" radius so I'm well above the minimum. I had an EAA tech counsellor look at a hose bend I was contemplating in another location and he pointed out it was too tight a radius. I never thought to ask him at the time what a recommended minimum might be.

Thanks for the help! I appreciate it very much.
